Swinging 60s fun at Christies this November

If you’re spending the afternoon in Mayfair this month, whether on business, after a lunch date. You may have recently relocated to the area, or want to check out the British Pop Art Exhibition at Christie’s. Running until 23rd November, it’s the closest you’ll get to feeling like you’re in the swinging 60s. This could be the opportunity to wear that vintage shift that’s been hiding in your closet.

Controversial art.

Expect to see work by artists such as David Hockney, Allen Jones and Patrick Caulfield. The latter’s female sculptures might give off a slightly sexist vibe now (as they did even back in the 60s). There is still something inherently intriguing about the whole ‘girl as a coffee table’ idea. It will have you lingering near his pieces longer than you might expect.

Culture vulture.

Friendly attendants, a relaxed atmosphere and no tacky gift shop to tempt you out of your hard-earned cash. There are a few reasons to visit this free exhibition, and with three floors of pop art to explore set in Christie’s stunning Mayfair townhouse. This is the perfect place to unwind after a lunch date or soak up some culture before your business meeting.
