Power couple Beyonce and Jay Z have been considering purchasing property in the UK for the last few years and have recently splashed out a cool £5.5 million on a lavish townhouse in London’s upmarket Mayfair. The purchase has been made ahead of their string of UK shows, which are rumoured to be taking place later this year.

Sources close to the couple, who are said to be in love with all things British, say they spent months browsing property across the UK – even considering the Cotswolds at one point – before choosing the luxury house in London’s Mayfair. In the past, the couple has stayed in high-end hotels or rented sprawling manors in the capital, but it makes sense for them to have a more permanent base here in London for UK tours.

Their new home is in one of the city’s most exclusive districts, close to Portobello Market and with some of the finest bars and restaurants in London right on their doorstep. Mayfair is also home to top private schools where they could send their two-year-old daughter Blue Ivy, if they decide to settle permanently in London.
