Charles Street

The street was built when Lord Berkeley’s estate was developed. Most terrace houses along the street were built in the 1750s. Many of them are now listed by Historic England.

When the street was first laid out. The houses were constructed by a carpenter-cum-builder, John Phillips, who lived in Brook Street and whose office is said to have been at No.27A, Charles Street.
