According to retail sources, Monique Lhuillier, which produces and sells ready-to-wear, accessories, and wedding lines, has agreed to open a store on South Audley Street in older building in the heart of Mayfair. The inside of the building is being restored in preparation for an opening towards the end of May. “We were smitten with the space. It has a different mood, more old world, classic, and ornate than we would have preferred, but the bones are very wonderful,” Bugbee remarked. This means that the wedding and ready-to-wear dress designer, who founded her own label in 1996, is heading to London later this spring to open her first European boutique.
London has always been our target in terms of international market,” said Tom Bugbee, the brand’s CEO and Lhuillier’s spouse. That is a more direct route to Europe. The commercial practises are identical to those in the United States, and there is no language barrier. We knew it was a market for us because of our wholesale clients such as Harrods.
